School Dinners or Packed Lunch?
Universal Free School Meals (UFSM)
All children in Reception, Year 1, and Year 2 are entitled to a free school meal each day under the Government's Universal Free School Meals scheme. Meals are provided by Chartwells, and menus are available online or from the School Office. Menus vary each term.
Each half term, we will send a letter asking if you would like to take up this offer. You may choose to send a packed lunch instead, but please inform the school if you do not wish to receive a hot meal. This helps us avoid unnecessary cost and food waste.
Free School Meals (FSM)
Children in Key Stages 1 and 2 may also be eligible for means-tested Free School Meals if parents meet certain income-related criteria. If you think this applies to your family, please speak confidentially with the Headteacher or Mrs Richardson. For every child registered for FSM, the school receives £1,320 in additional funding.
Packed Lunches
If you choose to provide a packed lunch, we encourage healthy, balanced choices to support your child’s learning and wellbeing. A good lunch might include a sandwich, wrap, or pasta, fruit or vegetables, a healthy snack such as yoghurt or a cereal bar, and water or milk. We kindly ask that fizzy drinks, squash, sweets, chocolate bars, and nut-based products are not included, as we are a nut-free school.

Allergies and Special Diets
If your child has food allergies or dietary requirements, please notify the School Office. Chartwells requires medical evidence to support any special dietary needs.
Milk in School
Children under the age of five are entitled to free milk, funded by the UK government. We use Cool Milk to provide this service and will register your child on your behalf using their name and date of birth.
When your child turns five, you can choose to continue milk provision at a subsidised rate by visiting the Cool Milk parent portal.
